John J. Rossi

John Rossi is a nationally recognized, preeminent FELA attorney with a long and distinguished career in advancing the rights of injured railroad workers. He’s a dedicated advocate for railroad employees, helping them assert their rights in serious and catastrophic personal injury cases. A successful trial lawyer, John has tried over two hundred (200) cases and settled over a thousand (1,000) cases during his career. He was named one of "The Best Lawyers in America" for his excellence in personal injury litigation and railroad law.
Additionally, John successfully handled numerous appeals that influenced the direction of FELA law to benefit railroad workers, including:
- Johnson v. Amtrak, 989 P.2d 245 (Colo. App. 1999);
- Dalebout v. Union Pacific R.R. Co., 980 P.2d 1194 (Utah 1999);
- Wilkinson v. Union Pacific R.R. Co., 975 P.2d 464 (Utah 1998);
- Thornton v. Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe, 11 F. Supp. 2d 1311 (10th Cir. 1997);
- Wieczorek v. Southern Pac. Transp. Co., 1998 U.S. App. LEXIS 11714 (10th Cir.).
John is a member and past Vice-President of the Aurora Bar Association. He is also a member of the Denver and Colorado Bar Associations, the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, the American Board of Trial Advocates, and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. John is a past President of the Academy of Rail Labor Attorneys and continues to be a valued member of that organization.
John earned his law degree from the University of Denver. Before that, he received an engineering degree from the Colorado School of Mines, and is a registered professional engineer in Colorado. John founded the firm in 1967 (then known as Morrisard & Rossi, P.C.), in Colorado.
In addition to his professional attributes, John is a credit to the community. He is a generous supporter of charities, the arts and virtually every Colorado-based sporting event.
